Description:

If you are trying to connect to Remote Desktop and the prompt to 'approve' MFA does not appear, turning off 'app lock' can resolve the issue.

Solution:

Open the Authenticator app on your personal device. In the top right corner, click the three dots (in a vertical line) and 'Settings'. Scroll down and if your App lock is enabled it will be highlighted in Blue. Press this to disable the app lock. This will ensure that all pop up approval notifications are sent to your personal device.

Notes - Disabling the app lock in the Authenticator app only disables it for this app and will not change any other security settings on your personal device.,

If you are getting the MFA Approval pop up, but when you click approve the relevant Microsoft app (email, teams etc) still stays on the Approve request screen as shown below


Solution:

Click on the I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now on the above screen

Select User Use a verification code from my mobile app

Open up the MS Authenticator app & tap on the Runshaw College option

Return to Email or Teams and enter this code & click Verify
