Simply search your Play/App Store (as you would do normally) for Microsoft Teams and install:

If you want to use teams online you can do that from https://teams.microsoft.com though the experience is not quite as rich. The same link will also available via “My Runshaw” soon on the College website, as well as from within your mailbox whilst using Outlook web; simply click on the button in the top left and you should then see “Teams listed” (although you may have to click the “All Apps” button if you don’t see it listed):

Full Client Install

  • It will automatically detect which is the correct version for your device and will download the installer file and will likely appear automatically at the bottom of your browser

  • Run the file and follow the on-screen prompts

The app is available on both Windows and Apple devices.

Once you have installed Teams on your chosen device, please ensure that you enable notifications so that you are alerted when someone tries to call you for example, or when a meeting is about to start, etc.

Your Login Details

You’ll need to log in with your user id formatted in the same way as you do for Outlook on the web, i.e. username@runshaw.ac.uk for Staff and studentid@student.runshaw.ac.uk for students:

E.ggs.  BLOJ01@runshaw.ac.uk or BLO12345678@student.runshaw.ac.uk 

Your Class Teams

You will have automatically been added to a Teams group for each on of your classes. You can locate these via the “Teams” option on the left hand side (after logged in):

Joining Team Meetings

There are numerous ways to join a meeting:

When you join a Teams meeting via one of the methods above, if appropriate you may need to enable your webcam and/mic button for the meeting, simply click on the button(s) below before clicking “Join Now”

  • Click “Join Teams Meeting”

  • On the Pop-up click “Cancel” and then click “Continue on this browser”

  • Click “Join Online”

Teams Hasn’t Been Set Up For Your School or Function Yet

We have only set up Teams so far on request from the Line Manager/Head of School. If your School/Function hasn’t been set up yet, please ask your manager to complete the form on our Self Service Portal to request this.

Posting to Multiple Classes At The Same Time

Once the groups have been created, you have the option to post to more than one group at the same time:

  • Click “Teams”:

  • Press the Format button:

  • You can then drop down from ‘New Conversation’ to ‘New Announcement’ if you wish (which is where nobody can reply), or leave as ‘New Conversation’:

  • Type your message and subject and then press ‘Post in Multiple channels’

Here you will then select the Classes you wish to post to.

Manage Class Notifications

You can choose not to receive notifications for a particular class:

  • Go into the Team
  • Ensure you're on the "General" tab
  • Click the three dots on the right hand side
  • Manage Notifications

Issue Loading Pre-Recorded Lessons

If a student experiences issues downloading or playing a pre-recorded lesson, the first thing to try is for the teacher to copy the recording to their OneDrive, Right click on the file and share it with the student that way.
