If you have installed Sophos previously, you will need to install the new version below before 30th April 2020 as it will then cease to work.

The instructions for installing (applies to both new installs and if you already have the old version installed) are below.

If you do not have Sophos currently installed, simply skip the "Uninstall Old Version" section and go straight to the "Install New Version" section.

Uninstall Old Version

  1. Uninstall the old version of Sophos if you have it installed
  2. You will need to go into your Add/Remove Programs (usually accessed via the Start Menu and searching for Programs)
  3. First Uninstall the Program called "Sophos Anti-Virus" (see screenshot below)

4. Restart your device and then uninstall all other Programs that reference "Sophos"

Install New Version

  1. Visit https://home.sophos.com/en-us/employee.aspx
  2. Enter your college email address and click "Submit"

4. You will then receive an email with subject: "Your free license of Sophos Home Commercial Edition" containing the following details:

Click "Create Account" and complete all of the required fields (see following screenshot), but please be aware that your coupon code will already be pre-populated but with .aspx on the end, you will need to remove the .aspx part so that it matches the code that was emailed to you (see above screenshot)

6. You'll then receive a confirmation email with a "Confirm" button for you to click which will verify your account:

7. After confirming your email address, simply login on the device you would like to protect and click "Download" (please be aware this file is approximately 300mb so may take some time to download)

8. Once Downloaded simply run the "SophosInstall.exe" file and follow the on-screen instructions. If you selected "Run" after clicking the "Download" button it should bring up the on-screen installer prompts automatically. again the install may take some time

9. After installing it will then automatically scan your device (which again may take some time)

10. When the scan has completed you will see a results screen, here you will have the option to Restart your PC or possibly some other suggested actions if any suspicious files were identified
