1) Will the message appear on student screens as well as staff laptops and screens?

Yes - the message should appear on every college managed screen attached to the college network or WiFi.


2) Will the message appear on screens of staff working remotely, i.e., in a workplace for apprentices or industry placement?

No - the message should only appear on screens that are attached to the college network or WIFI.


3) If all your class are able to run, with the exception of one with mobility issues, should you leave that student to hide on their own?

Yes - the advise is to run, hide and tell.  This does go against human nature, however, the advice is to prioritise your own safety. 


4) The advice is Run, Hide, Tell , but shouldn’t you look and listen first?

Yes, we encourage you to undertake your own dynamic risk assessment and consider what is going on around you. 


5) Have students been informed of the test?

Yes, a notice has been issued via ASPIRE and personal tutor sessions.


6) Can any staff member put a message out like this?

No, access to the IT notification system is restricted to the service desk and SMT.


7) How do I raise the alarm in the case of a major incident?

The college has an incident response plan.  This is available to all staff on Moodle.  The immediate response to a major incident will be to either:

Run/Hide/Tell, or

  • In the case of a fire, press a manual call point to activate the fire alarm.

  • In both cases, call 999 and then tell a member of SMT as soon as possible.
