Description:

If you are using a search engine, such as Google, and finding sites blocked because they are classified as Advertisements & Pop-Ups it may not be an issue with the site you are trying to access.

Solution:

If you see Ad next to the web address it means that clicking on the link will route you to the website via another & it is this other website that is categorised as advertisements & pop ups.  These sites either take you to an advert or are just used for monitoring purposes, but all of them are automatically categorised as advertisements & popups which are blocked by the college.

In many cases if you look further down the page you will see the same website without the Ad next to it & if you click on this link it will take you direct the website with no problems.

If you can’t see a link without the Ad symbol, then just copy the address shown next to the Ad, paste it in to the address bar in your web browser & press enter.

You may also find the same issue when using links from email newsletters.  In this case just search for the company website & see if the information can be easily found on there.  If not please contact the Service Desk.

If you do find that the actual website is blocked please contact the Service Desk.
